Winton E. Hagstrom

Winton E. Hagstrom, age 84, former resident of Upsala, MN, died Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Careview Nursing Home in Minneapolis. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Upsala with Pastor Trish Jorgenson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Winton Elwood Hagstrom was born on August 8, 1922 in Upsala, Minnesota to the late Linus & Esther (Wedin) Hagstrom. He grew up in Upsala and graduated from Upsala High School in 1940. Following high school, Winton worked in the Twin Cities. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. After the service he moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota and worked for the railroad. He later moved to Minneapolis and continued working for the railroad. He was united in marriage to Delphine Fink and they lived in Minneapolis. After Winton retired from the railroad the couple moved to Upsala. Delphine passed away on April 1, 1999 and Winton continued living in Upsala. Due to declining health, Winton became a resident of Careview Nursing Home in Minneapolis in October of 2004. Winton was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Upsala, the Upsala American Legion, and the Little Falls V.F.W. Winton enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing and visiting with friends and family. He was also a handyman and enjoyed helping people. Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Doris Brix of Minneapolis and other relatives and friends. Winton was preceded in death by his parents, Linus & Esther (Wedin) Hagstrom; wife, Delphine R. Fink-Hagstrom, brother, Merrill Hagstrom and sister, Joyce Morrison.
