William J. Sczublewski William J. Sczublewski, 93 year old resident of Sobieski, MN, passed away Wednesday, June 22 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 27 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN with Rev. Leo Moenkedick officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN and from 9:30 until the hour of service on Monday at the church in Sobieski, MN. Parish Prayers will be said at 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home followed by Knights of Columbus at 5:00 P.M. William J. Sczublewski was born March 3, 1918 in Minneapolis, MN to Frank and Frances (Ringwelski) Sczublewski. He was united in marriage to Bernice Therese Janey on October 11, 1939 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN. The couple made their home in Swan River Township, Morrison County, Minnesota. William farmed in Swan River Township and also worked at the Little Falls Paper Mill until retiring in 1983. William was a City Clerk for the Village of Sobieski for many years. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union of America. He enjoyed fishing, mowing the lawn and was an avid Twins fan. In his early years, he played in a polka band. William was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN, where he served two terms on the church council and the Knights of Columbus of which he was a member for 60 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bernice Sczublewski of Sobieski, MN; children, Ron Sczublewski and wife, Barb, of Alexandria, MN, Jim Sczublewski and wife, Janel, of Royalton, MN, Joan Oldakowski of New Hope, MN, Michelle Fitzpatrick and husband, Keith, of Becker, MN. eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Frances Sczublewski; granddaughter, Deborah (Oldakowski) Halvorson; brother, Jerome Sczublewski and a son-in-law, Ervan Oldakowski. Casket Bearers will be: Kenny Janey, Keith Fitzpatrick, Kayla Stafford, Kenny Sczublewski, Ethan Sczublewski, Cheryl Oldakowski.
