Virgil Ruegemer

Virgil Ruegemer, 75 year old resident of Pierz, MN, died Saturday, July 4th at St. Gabriels Hospital in Little Falls, MN. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 10 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Fr. Kenneth Popp. The burial will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Friday at the church. The military honors will be provided by the Minnesota Honor Guard.



Virgil Ruegemer was born July 14, 1939 in St. Martin, MN to the late Alfred and Magdalena (Blonigen) Ruegemer. He attended school in Melrose, MN and graduated with the class of 1957. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 3, 1957 and was honorably discharged on September 22, 1958. Virgil worked as a welder at Polar Tank in Opole, MN and at the Onan Company in Minneapolis, MN for several years. He was united in marriage to Susanne Sue Gorke on August 22, 1991 in Minneapolis, MN. The couple made their home in Minneapolis, MN. They moved to Pierz, MN in December of 2005 where he resided at the time of his death. Virgil enjoyed John Deere Tractors, yard work, carpentry work, tinkering, remodeling homes and welding. He was a very creative and innovated person. He was a member of the Catholic Aid and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pierz, MN.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Susanne Sue Ruegemer of Pierz, MN; children, Robert Ruegemer of Oak Grove, MN, Randall (Tami) Ruegemer of Albany, MN, Cindy (Barry) Yotter of Hill City, MN, Tammy Nodes of Forreston, MN; step-children, Traci Melberg of Ramsey, MN, Troy Mangles of Milaca, MN, Richard Mangles of Princeton, MN and Jeffery Mangles of Milaca, MN; siblings, Sylvester (Peggy) Ruegemer of Sauk Centre, MN, Melvin Ruegemer of Rockville, MN, Edwin Ruegemer of Bemidji, MN, Lawrence (Mary) Ruegemer of Richmond, MN, Viola Zierden of Grey Eagle, MN and Lorraine Hoffman of Buckman, MN; 12 grandchildren,5 great-grandchildren and many realtives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marcella Zierden and Lorella Pundsack.
