Viola M. Tretter, 82 year old resident of Upsala, MN, died Sunday at St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday, November 15th at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Upsala. Visitation is Tuesday from 4:00 a" 8:00 p.m. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Home in Upsala with a Christian Mother's rosary at 4:00 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 5 p.m. at the funeral chapel on Tuesday. Visitation continues Wednesday at the funeral chapel from 9-10 a.m. Viola Marie Tschida was born on May 20, 1924, in Buh Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Joseph & Rose (Vandenheuvel) Tschida. She grew up on a farm in Buh Township and attended country school. Following her schooling, she worked at Maddens in Brainerd and then in the Twin Cities. She was united in marriage to Peter Tretter on November 14, 1945 in Lastrup, MN. The couple made their home in Little Falls until 1951 when they moved to Upsala. The couple owned Tretter's Sinclair and Laundromat which Viola operated. Viola enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reupholster work, and playing cards. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Upsala and the St. Mary's Christian Women. Survivors include her children, Robert (Brenda) Tretter of Little Falls, Janice Burggraff of Clear Lake, Brenda (Steve) Lange of St. Joseph and Randy "Rudy" (Jane) of Burtrum; sister, Bernice Fautsch of St. Paul; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph & Rose (Vandenhovel) Tschida; husband, Peter Tretter (November 2, 2001); grandchildren, Stacey Tretter, Sara Burggraff and Jason Burggraff; son-in-law, Thomas Burggraff and brother, Lester Tschida. Casket Bearers will be Rob Tretter, Scott Tretter, Troy Tretter, Matthew Lange, Tom Bartkowicz & Joe Bartkowicz.
