August 30, 1928 — July 2, 2016

Veronica Popp, 87 year old resident of Royalton, MN, died Saturday, July 2 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 7 at 11:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Church in Rice, MN with Father Tom Becker and Father Kenneth Popp officiating. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6 and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7 at the church.

Veronica (Then) Popp was born August 30, 1928 in St. Stephen Township to the late Andrew and Catherine (Fuchs) Then. She grew up in St. Stephen Township, where she attended country school. She was united in marriage to Marvin Popp on September 1, 1949 at Immaculate Conception Church in Rice, MN. The couple made their home in Bellevue Township where theyraised their twelve children. Veronica and Marvin enjoyed farm life. Veronica worked as a CNA at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids, MN for 17 years. The couple moved into Royalton, MN in 1987. Marvin died October 26, 1995. In 2010, Veronica moved into Riverside Assisted Living in Royalton, MN, where she resided for five years. She has lived the past six months at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids, MN, where the staff really made her feel at home. She was always able to find a deal at the Dollar Store or a Thrift Store. Veronica enjoyed flowers especially, geraniums, gardening, watching things grow, garage sales, hot steaming coffee, playing bingo, going to the casino, watching Little House on The Prairie and Mother Angelica on EWTN. Her motto was Laugh When You Can. Her children will always treasure her passion, love and support she showed to all of them. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Rice, MN and was active with the Christian Mothers.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Allen Popp of Rice, MN, Ervin (Special Friend Jane)Popp of St. Cloud, MN, Richard (Deb) Popp of Royalton, MN, Firmin Popp of Royalton, MN, Marlene (Fran) Ratka of Sartell, MN, Dorothy (Leon) Bohlsen of Sartell, MN, Mary (Dave) Schreiber of Rogers, MN, Judy (Bruce) Enkhaus of Ramsey, MN, Bertha (Brian) Duea of Rice, MN, Jean Popp of Sartell, MN, Viola (Edward) Miller of Sauk Rapids, MN; brother, Al (Rose) Then of Sartell, MN; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. We must not forget her beloved dog, Raven.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Popp on October 26, 1995; parents; son, George; infant sister, Josephine Then; siblings, Lawrence (MaryJane) Then, Ted (Rosemary) Then, Alois (Adeline) Then, Othilda (Sylvester) Johnsen.

The family of Veronica would like to thank the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home for the wonderful care given to their mother.
