Vernon Richard Marshall

Vernon Richard Marshall, 89 year old resident of Pierz, passed away on Friday, January 31 at the Pierz Villa. A Memorial Service Celebrating Vernon's Life will be held on Wednesday, February 5 at 11:00 A.M. at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN with Dave Rosekrans officiating. A visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. The burial will be held at River Side Cemetery near Brainerd. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Pierz Villa or CHI Home and Health Care. 

Vernon Richard Marshall was born on May 6, 1935 in Pillager, Crow Wing County, Minnesota to the late Lawrence and Pauline Marshall. Vernon attended Pillager Schools. He was united in marriage to Barbara Rosekrans on October 24, 1953 at St. Mathias Catholic Church in St. Mathias, MN. Most of working life was either working construction or was an over the road truck driver. 

Vernon will be held be remembered as an outspoken gentleman; He was always ready to share his opinion with anyone. He was a self-proclaimed mechanic who specialized at fuel and ignition work. He enjoyed drag racing, deer hunting and telling stories even some of them were even true! 

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 71 years, Barbara Marshall of Pierz; children, Vernon L. (Bernice Woitalla) Marshall of Harding, MN, Randy D. (Juliann Okroi) Marshall of Pierz; daughters-in-law, Pam Marshall of Colorado and Patricia Marshall of Hillman; siblings, Robert Marshall of Pillager, Floyd (Esther) Frost of Alaska; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Vernon (Vivian) Rosekrans Fort Ripley, Virgil Rosekrans of Brainerd and Sharon (Ron) Moran of Fort Ripley; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jeffrey Marshall and Wayne Marshall; granddaughter, Donna Marshall; brother, Eugene (Arlys) Marshall and a sister-in-law, Betty Marshall
