Ursula M. Thompson, age 90, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014, at her home in Little Falls.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Fr. Jeremy Ploof officiating.Interment will be in the parish cemetery.Visitation will be held from 4:00 8:00 P.M. Monday, and 10:00 11:00 A.M. Tuesday all at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls.There will be a Rosary by the Christian Mothers and Daughters of Isabella at 4:30 P.M. Monday followed by Parish Prayer service at 6:00 P.M.
Ursula Martha Rudolph was born on October 17, 1923, in Little Falls, Minnesota to the late Thomas & Emma (Koziol) Rudolph.She grew up south of Little Falls.Ursula attended and graduated from St. Francis High School with the Class of 1941.Following high school, she attended teachers training at St. Cloud State University where she earned her teaching degree and in 1972 received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education.She was united in marriage to Robert M. Thompson on June 11, 1947, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, Minnesota.Following their marriage, the couple lived in Little Falls where Ursula resided until her death.Ursulas teaching career spanned 36 years of which the last 18 years were at St. Marys School in Little Falls.She retired in 1985.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, flowers, traveling, and reading to the blind.Her sons gave her pride every day and they enjoyed her sense of humor even to the end.She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.She volunteered at St. Gabriels Hospital in Guest Relations, Unity Family Hospice and Home Care, St. Ottos Care Center and the St. Francis Convent.She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, money counter and led the Rosary.Other memberships included the Little Falls American Legion Auxiliary, Little Falls V.F.W. Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers, Franciscan Associates, Missionaries of Charity Prayer Group, St. Gabriels Hospital Auxiliary, and Our Lady of Fatima Mission Group.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, David (Zenaida) Thompson of Toms River, NJ, John (Catherine) Thompson of Milaca, MN, and Tom (Lori) Thompson of Moses Lake, WA; seven grandchildren, Robert (Courtney) Thompson, Andrea (Jeremy) Johnson, David (Amy) Thompson, Jr., Tessa (Eric) Dahlstrom, John DeMata, Joseph Thompson, and Benjamin Thompson; six great-grandchildren, Jack & Stephanie Thompson, Jack & Parker Johnson, Ellie Thompson, and Lily Dahlstrom; siblings, Kathryn Maciej of Little Falls, MN, Tom (Dorothy) Rudolph of Rhinelander, WI, and Mary Kokett of Little Falls, MN.
Ursula was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas & Emma (Koziol) Rudolph; husband, Robert M. Thompson (July 18, 1975) and siblings, Connie Skwira, Frank Rudolph, Victor Rudolph, Justine Plakut, and Roman Rudolph.
