Thomas Tom Silbernick, 81 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, died Monday, March 7 at St. Ottos Care Center in Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 10 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, MN with Father Joseph Herzing officiating. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN and from 10:00-11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the church. A Christian Mothers Rosary will be said at 4:30 P.M. followed by the Parish Prayers at 7:45 P.M. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Thomas Anthony Silbernick was born on February 20, 1935 in Albany, Minnesota to Oswald and Ludwina (Ohman) Silbernick. He was baptized and confirmed in his Catholic faith as a child. Tom graduated from Albany High School in 1952. He worked on an Ore Boat on Lake Superior after high school. On August 11, 1958 he was united in marriage to Joan Marie Pierskalla at St. Wendell Catholic Church. The marriage was blessed with six children. Thomas and Joan moved to a hobby farm outside of Little Falls in Morrison County in 1963. He worked as an electrician at St. Gabriels Hospital, Minnesota Power and Light and Falls Electric in Little Falls. In 1979, until his retirement in 1997 he was the Electrical Supervisor at Camp Ripley. Thomas enjoyed completing remodeling projects for friends and family. He traveled throughout the United States and enjoyed fishing trips in Canada. Thomas hunted deer every season for over 50 years. He collected and restored a variety of Windmills. In addition, Thomas sang in the church choir and was a soloist for wedding and funerals. He also volunteered at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joan Silbernick of Little Falls; children, Keith (Ann) Silbernick of Little Falls, Kevin (Joan) Silbernick of Royalton, Cindy (Kirk) Larson of Hutchinson, Janice Kjera of Fargo, Julie (Jeff) Fandel of Rice, Paul (Elizabeth) Silbernick of Lakeland, grandchildren, Lynn Heckman, Nancy Miller, Zach Silbernick, Matt Silbernick, Jamie Mahoney, Linsey Hanson, Casey Bjoralt, David Kjera, Nick Kjera, Maddie Kjera, Shelby Lorentz, Austin Lorentz, Valerie Silbernick and Grace Silbernick; step-grandchildren, Jake Fandel, Courtney Cruckson, Kyle Larson and Alex Larson; great-grandchildren, Adon Ripple, Nora Heckman and Diesel Miller; step-great-grandchild. Jude Cruckson; siblings, Richard (Barb) Silbernick of Becker, Marlene Ellenbecker of Coon Rapids, Bernice Larrison of Park Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oswald and Ludwina Silbernick; brother, Jerry Silbernick and Robert Silbernick; sisters, Betty Le Clair, Lucille Bicking and Rita Herzog.
In Lieu of Flowers Memorials are preferred to the following: Poor Claires in Sauk Rapids, MN and the Salvation Army.
