Theresa (Prokott) LaValle, 80 year old resident of Rice, passed away Sunday, Nov. 16th, 2014 at St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Friday, Nov. 21st at Immaculate Conception Church in Rice, MN with Father Thomas Becker officiating.The burial will take place at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Royalton.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20th from 4:30 PM-8:30 PM at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Home in Royalton MN. A parish prayer will be held at 7:00PM on Thursday evening. A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service at Immaculate Conception Church in Rice.
Theresa Catherine (Prokott) LaValle was born in Bowlus, MN to Michael & Angeline (Witucki) Prokott on Sept. 25th, 1934. She attended country school until the 6th grade. Theresa married Roy LaValle on April 10th, 1956 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN and lived in Royalton, MN before moving to Rice, MN, where she lived the rest of her life. Theresa was an energetic worker holding many different jobs throughout her life. Working at the Minnesota Nut and Bolt Factory in Minneapolis, MN and as the Head Cook at the Rice Elementary School for many years. In her spare time she also was a seamstress and enjoyed wood and construction projects at her home.Theresa enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, especially cribbage and 31, sewing, quilting, fishing, hunting, cooking, gardening, canning, playing the guitar, organ, piano, harmonica and accordion and most of all spending time with her family and friends.Theresa took great pride in helping her family whenever she could. Theresa was a strong women and a survivor of cancer four times.She was known for her strength and her ability to give strength, love, and compassion to others. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Daniel, brothers John, Mark, Mike and sisters Rosaline, Agnes and Veronica.
Theresa is survived and greatly loved by her son John (Sharon) LaValle of McEwen, TN; daughters, Renae Kiffmeyer of St. Cloud, Roxane Kirsling of Rice, and Marie Weinand of Bowlus; grandchildren, Ross Kiffmeyer, Luke (Renee) Kiffmeyer, Ryan Kirsling, Joshua (Stephanie) LaValle, Amanda Kirsling, Jacob Kirsling, Abby Weinand, Adam Weinand, and Amy Weinand and seven great-grandchildren.
