Sylvia Gaboury

Sylvia Gaboury, 95 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, died Tuesday, October 22 at St. Ottos Care Center in Little Falls, MN.A funeral service will be held Friday, October 25 at 11:00 am at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN, with Father Joseph Herzing officiating.A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home.The burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN.

Sylvia Gaboury was born October 22, 1918 to the late Edward and Sophie (Barbeau) Doucette. She attended country school in Ripley Township.She was united in marriage to Leo Gaboury on August 23, 1941 at St. Vincents Catholic Church in Los Angeles, CA.The couple made their home in Los Angeles until Leo entered the military. The couple lived in Florida for a few years.They returned to Minnesota where they farmed in the Pillager area.Sylvia and Leo moved to Little Falls, MN, where she worked for ten years for the Woolworths company until it closed.They retired and spent the winter months in Plant City, FL.Sylvia will be remembered as a Grand Champion Cook. She was awarded several awards and wrote articles for Sylvias Kitchen in the Courier paper in Florida. She would share her recipes and secrets in the articles. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining. She volunteered for several years at the Little Falls Senior Center and St. Gabriels Hospital. Sylvia was a former member of the Little Falls VFW Auxiliary.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, David Gaboury of Minnetonka, MN, Noel (Diane) Gaboury of Nisswa, MN, Donna Gaboury of Elk Grove, CA and Yvonne Gaboury of Babbit, MN; grandchildren, Carl Jara, Jody Courteau and Stacy Englert; great-grandchildren, Cayla and Courtney Courteau, Dylan and Cullen Englert and a brother, Leon (Susan) Doucette of Shakopee, MN.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo in 1999; son, Steven and brothers, Clayton, Marcel and Irving.
