Sylvester Peter Syl Waldvogel, 89 year old resident of Little Falls died Thursday, November 15 at St.Ottos Care Center in Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Little Falls. Father Ben Kociemba will officiate and burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 23, 2018 at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls with parish prayers held at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will be 8:30 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 24 at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service.
Sylvester was born November 24, 1928 to Paul and Frances (Lenarz) Waldvogel in Little Falls. Syl graduated from Little Falls High School in 1947. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. Syl married the love of his life, Dorothy Tabatt on June 6, 1955 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Little Falls. Over the course of his career, Syl worked for the various employers: National Tea Grocery, Victor Clothing, Valet Cleaners, Lafonds Building Supply, St. Gabriels Hospital Laundry and Coast to Coast. He was a wonderful cook, and treasured his noon meals on Sundays with family. Syl will be missed for his great Thanksgiving dressing and famous Sloppy Joes. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, wood working, singing, dancing, power ball tickets and scratch offs, blackberry brandy, crossword puzzles, popcorn, ice cream, black jelly beans, chocolate milk and was always willing to share a joke or two. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Waldvogel of Little Falls; children, Danny (Maggie Ellison) Waldvogel of Carson City, NV, Faye (Chuck) Santala of Little Falls, David ( Angie Strom) Waldvogel of Little Falls, Bruce (Nancy Waytashek) Waldvogel of Little Falls, William Zeb Waldvogel of Little Falls, Julie Waldvogel of Royalton, Jody (Kathleen Nicoski) Waldvogel of Little Falls, Melissa (Scott) Kallberg of Little Falls, Jaime (Sandy Robbins) Waldvogel of Little Falls; 28 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ray (Marge) Waldvogel of Dallas, TX, Paul (Joyce) Waldvogel of Little Falls, Alice Norton of Wisconsin, Don (Bernice) Waldvogel of Little Falls, Jerome (Arlene) Waldvogel of Little Falls, Lawrence (Gloria) Waldvogel of Little Falls, Mary Amundson of Little Falls, Robert (Carol) Waldvogel of Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Donna Waldvogel of Little Falls, brothers-in-law, Herb, Jr. Tabatt of Little Falls, John (Jean) Tabatt of Randall, Fred (Judy) Tabatt of Little Falls; sister-in-law, Adele Williams of Little Falls sister-in-law, Marge Tabatt of St. Cloud.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Frances Waldvogel; father and mother-in-law, Herb and Wanda Tabatt; siblings, Elizabeth Wardarski, James Waldvogel; grandsons, Jeremy Gohl and Shane Waldvogel.
