Sylvester D. Oldakowski

Our father, Sylvester went to dance with our mother, Anna in heaven on October 9, 2008. He died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Sylvester was surrounded by his loving family at his home where he was born, raised and passed away. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Monday, October 13, 2008 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski with Father Raymond Donnay officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Sunday, October 12 at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service 900 1st St. SE Little Falls and from 9 to 10:15 AM on Monday, October 13th at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski. Parish prayers will be at 5 PM followed by the Rosary Sodality at 6 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home. Sylvester was born on the family farm in Swan River Township, Morrison County, Minnesota on March 1, 1926 to the late Joseph and Mary (Witucki) Oldakowski. Sylvester attended school in Swan River Township District #1181. He was united in marriage to Anna E. Raymond on January 18, 1954 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN. They raised their ten children on the Oldakowski family farm in Swan River Township. Sylvester enjoyed four-wheeling, walks in the woods, woodworking, fishing, bird- watching, mushroom picking, Polka music and collecting Alice Chalmers memorabilia. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, Knights of Columbus, Triple F Feeds, National Farmers Association, Mother's Club and the Sportsmen's Club. Sylvester especially loved to visit with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing with friends and neighbors and going on road trips with his special friends. Sylvester is survived by his children, Karen (Geno) Skaj of St. Stephen, MN, Mike (Karen) Oldakowski of Royalton, MN, Laure (Wayne) Schleicher of Elmdale, MN, Susan (Ron) Wochnick of Sartell, MN, Brian (Sheila) Oldakowski of Rice, MN, Beth (Dan) Kowalczyk of Royalton, MN, Jeanne (Duane) Kremers of Holdingford, MN, Mary (Tim) Posch of Royalton, MN, Joseph Oldakowski of Princeton, MN and Kelly (Brian) Mayers of Sartell, MN; 32 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Oldakowski, parents, Joseph and Mary Oldakowski; brother, Albin Oldakowski and ten angel babies.
