Stella M. Vaverek

Stella M. Vaverek, age 88 of Little Falls, MN passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 22, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and Friday from 8:00-10:00 A.M. at the Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. Christian Mothers will pray a Rosary at 4:30 P.M. at Thursday at the funeral chapel followed by parish prayers at 5:30 P.M. Stella M. (Lyshik) Vaverek was born November 14, 1921 in Glenwood, MN to the late Vance and Lucille (Minshaw) Lyshik. When she was a young girl her family moved to Flensburg, MN. She attended school in District 38 and graduated from Little Falls High School with the Class of 1940. She was united in marriage to Roman Vaverek on June 1, 1943, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN. Following their marriage, Stella and Roman lived in Sobieski where they farmed. The couple later moved to Little Falls. Roman died December 28, 2002. Stella continued to live in their home in Little Falls until 2004, when she became a resident of St. Otto's Care Center, residing there until her death. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing cards, cooking for her family and watching the Minnesota Twins. She was a member of the Little Falls V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Christian Mothers. Stella is survived by her children, Wayne (Diana) Vaverek of Cushing, MN, Alan (Brenda) Vaverek of Little Falls, MN, Jacqueline Jensen of Sartell, MN, Fay (Steve) Grams of Little Falls, MN, Linda Drong & friend Bob Pietz of Waite Park, MN and son-in-law, James Gavigan of South St. Paul, MN; brother, Richard Lyshik of Milwaukee, WI; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and her extended family at St. Otto's Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman; daughter, Deanne Gavigan; brothers, Joe, Cyril & Peter Lyshik, twin brother, Stanley Lyshik and sisters, Agnes Stajfie and Hattie Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
