Stanley J. Zilka, 86 year old resident of Flensburg, MN, died Monday, January 16 at the Long Prairie Hospital in Long Prairie, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 21 at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN, with Father Jimmy Joseph officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00-10:30 A.M. on Saturday at the church. Stanley John Zilka was born January 22, 1925 in Culdrum Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Frank J. and Agnes (Stoltman) Zilka. Stanley attended District #31 country school in Culdrum Township. After completing his schooling, he farmed in Culdrum Township and retired in 1970 from the family farm. Then he moved to Flensburg where he continued working as a carpenter and helping numerous farmers until he was in his early 80's. His family will remember him for his deep faith in God, good work ethic, kindness, patience and sense of humor. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Flensburg Sportsman Club and a 27 year member of the Flensburg Fire Department. Stanley was a life member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Marcella Matteson of Excelsior, MN, Theresa Zilka of Chanhassen, MN; nephews, Jim (Mary) Zilka of Sauk Centre, MN, Kevin Zilka of Burnsville, MN and Trey (Jean) Matteson of Palo Alto, California; nieces, Janis (Larry) Kane of Rosemount, MN, Gail (Ron) Johnson of Randall, MN, Linda (Patrick) Roddy of St. Michael, MN and several great- nieces and great-nephews. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Agnes Zilka; sisters, Lucille Zilka and Gertrude Prozinski; brother, Isadore Zilka; brothers-in-law, Ted Prozinski, Herb Matteson, Joe Zilka; nephew, Jerel Prozinski.
