Stanley Wozniak, age 90 of Little Falls, MN and formerly of Randall, MN passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Randall with the Rev. Leo Moenkedick officiating. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30-11:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church in Randall. Military Rites will be conducted by Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112 and Little Falls American Legion Post #46. Stanley A. Wozniak was born November 29, 1917 in Sobieski, Morrison County, MN to the late John and Regina (Drellack) Wozniak. As a young boy he grew up in Sobieski on the family farm. He attended country school through the eighth grade. Following his schooling, Stanley worked on the family farm. He later joined the CCC Camps. On March 2, 1942, he was inducted into the United States Army at Fort Snelling, MN. He received an Honorable Discharge on October 10, 1944. He served during WWII in the Normandy Campaign. Six days into the campaign his unit was hit by friendly fire. Stanley was the only person to survive. He received the Good Conduct Medal, EAME Ribbon, Victory Ribbon and a Purple Heart. Stanley was united in marriage to Barbara Wielinski on November 4, 1946. Following their marriage, Stanley and Barbara lived in Minneapolis, MN, Crystal, MN and Zimmerman, MN. Stanley worked as a cabinet maker for Crystal Cabinets. The couple later divorced. He retired in 1980 and moved to Little Falls and later to Randall. In 2001, Stanley moved to the Bridgeway Estates in Little Falls. In 2005, he became a resident of the Lutheran Care Center residing there until his death. He enjoyed woodworking, making bird houses, fishing, gardening, playing cards and especially cribbage. Stanley was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Crystal, MN; Disabled American Veterans, Little Falls V.F.W. Post #1112 and Little Falls American Legion Post #46. Stanley is survived by his sons, Michael John Wozniak & wife, Sharon, of El Cajon, CA, Jeffrie Wozniak & partner, Marc Magnuson, of Minneapolis, MN; brothers & sisters, Isabelle Trettel of Long Prairie, MN, Cyril Wozniak of Woodbury, MN, Richard Wozniak of Duluth, MN, Barbara Zabel & husband, Egil,of St. Paul, MN, Loretta Retka of Little Falls, MN, Margie Rutz & husband, Ed, of Columbia Heights, MN and grandson, Joseph Jon (J.J.) Wozniak & wife, Carrie, of Fresno, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son; brothers & sisters, Tilla Wozniak, Walter Wozniak, Louis Wozniak, Sylvia Helmerick, Leo Wozniak, Joan Semons, Joe Wozniak, Francis Wozniak, Sophie Larsen, Dan Wozniak, Tony Wozniak, Marie Fuller, Phillip Wozniak & Rita McDonald. Casketbearers are Ron Venske, Ted Venske, Bill Venske, Steve Jones, Bob Mueller & Adam Jones. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Disabled American Veterans and/or the Alzheimers Association.
