Sr. Rita Marie Martodam

Sister Rita Marie Martodam, 90, died on June 3, 2010, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minn. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on June 8, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on June 7, from 4 - 8:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on June 8. A wake service will be held at the Convent at 7 p.m. on June 7. Rita Marie was born on May 2, 1920, in Perham, Minn. She was the oldest of five children born to the late John and Julia (Grismer) Martodam. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minnesota, on July 31, 1954. She made first profession on August 12, 1956, and final vows on August 12, 1959. She was a Franciscan Sister for 53 years. She ministered as an elementary teacher for 23 years and in her later years was a volunteer in St. Clare Resource Center, St. Francis Archives and St. Francis Music Center. Sister Rita Marie was preceded in death by siblings, George and Eileen and brother-in-law Louis Schik. Survivors include siblings: Joseph (Marcella), Grand Rapids and Norleen Schik, Perham, sister-in-law, Rose Martodam, Wadena, nieces and nephews and her Franciscan Community. Donations to Franciscan Sisters Ministries preferred.
