Sr. Mary Lois Christen

Sister Mary Lois (Aurelia) Christen, 87, died on September 24, 2008, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minnesota. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Tuesday, September 30, 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Monday, September 29, from 4 - 8:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Tuesday. A wake service will be held at the Convent at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 29. Sister Lois was born on May 14, 1921. She was the last of nine children born to the late George and Mary (Habiger) Christen in Albany, Minnesota. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minnesota, on August 12, 1938. She made first profession of vows on August 12, 1940, and final vows on August 12, 1943. She was a Franciscan Sister for 70 years. Sister Lois ministered as a medical technologist, lab and x-ray supervisor and pastoral care associate. She served in Moorhead, Alexandria, Little Falls, Perham, and Sauk Centre Minnesota, and Dodgeville, Cudahy and South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sister Lois was preceded in death by brothers: George and Carl, and sisters: Sister Mary Viola, OSF, Sister Mary Agnes, CSJ, Marie Habermann and Caroline Reber. Survivors include sisters: Lidwina Blenker and Adeline Tamm, Albany and her Franciscan Community. Donations to Franciscan Sisters Ministries preferred. Franciscan Sisters www.fslf.org
