Sophie M. Emmerich, 90 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls. A Requiem Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN with Father Arthur Hoppe officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery in Flensburg. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, November 5th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. Sophie Marie Emmerich was born April 19, 1918 in Watab Township, Benton County to the late William and Elizabeth (Kloeppner) Benoit. She was united in marriage to William A. Emmerich on June 16, 1936. They moved to the Little Falls area in 1954. Sophie worked for Munsingwear for 20 years. She also taught CCD for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and quilting. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, Our Lady of Lourdes Quilting Club and the Sacred Heart Christian Mothers. Sophie is survived by her daughters, Joann (Louis) Henneck of Browerville, MN, Jackie (Ken) Kuhl of Swanville, MN, Elaine (Ed) Kovar of Monument, CO, Lucy (Robert) Johannes of Wayzata, MN and Gwen (Kent) Clark of Waite Park, MN; sons, Claude Emmerich of Coon Rapids, MN, Don Emmerich of Anoka, MN, Tony Emmerich of Andover, MN, Al (Maureen) Emmerich of Princeton, MN, Bruce (Kate) Emmerich of St. Francis, MN and Larry (Karen) Emmerich of Andover, MN; brother, Willard Benoit of Sauk Rapids, MN; sisters, Tecla Hennek of Dayton, MN, Teresa Winkleman of Princeton, MN and Mary (Marvin) Lardy of St. Augusta, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Emmerich (1989); parents, William and Elizabeth Benoit; sisters, Leona Shamblin and Hildegard Emmerich; brothers, Walter and Jerome Benoit and grandson, Jay Emmerich. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
