A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Tuesday, March 17, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Monday, March 16 from 4 - 8:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on March 17. A wake service will be held at the Convent at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 16. Arrangements are by the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service, Little Falls. Sister Mary Judith Steinke was born on March 25, 1917, in Eden Valley, Minn. She was the sixth of 13 children born to the late Joseph and Clara (Borgerding) Steinke. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minnesota, on August 12, 1936. She made first profession of vows on August 12, 1938, and final vows on August 12, 1941. She was a Franciscan Sister for 73 years. Sister Mary Judith ministered as a staff nurse, home care nurse and a domestic. She served in Dodgeville, Wisconsin; Moorhead, Breckenridge, Little Falls, St. Cloud, Parkers Prairie, and Elk River Minn. She retired to St. Francis Convent in 1975. Sister Judith was preceded in death by siblings: Ernest, Cecilia Willis, Celestine, Elizabeth Ruhland, Sister M. Celeste, OSF, Helen Foster, infant Joseph, Catherine Laffin, Joseph and David. Survivors include: Bernadette Mareck, Waite Park and Thomas (Ramona), Little Falls; nephews and nieces and her Franciscan Community. Donations to Franciscan Sisters Ministries preferred.
