Sister Mary Claudia was born on March 31, 1917, in Flensburg, Minn. She was the ninth of 11 children born to the late Jacob and Anna (Knopik) Boras. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minn., on August 12, 1945. She made first profession of vows on August 12, 1947, and final vows on August, 12, 1950. She was a Franciscan Sister for 67 years. Sister Mary Claudia's only aim in life was to do God's holy will and she reinforced that aim with a very strong prayer life. She was especially devoted to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist and would go to any length to attend Mass and receive Holy Communion. She loved the Blessed Virgin Mary and her rosary. Previous to the funeral of her sisters in religion, she often led the rosary for those attending. She rejoiced in crowning the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Queen of Heaven in May each year. She was a kind, fun-loving person whose sense of humor caused much merriment. She had a great love for the potato and at times would make a meal entirely of potatoes. In her later years, she was faithful to ringing the Chapel tower bell for the Angelus three times each day and for other services held there. Sister Mary Claudia ministered as a seamstress, hospitality, sacristan and homemaker throughout her religious life. She served in St. Cloud, Breckenridge and Little Falls. Sister Mary Claudia was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Angeline Bzdok, Frances, Frank, Peter, Josephine, Blanche Lutzke, Mary Lutzke, Joseph and Victoria Tuzinski. Survivors include her brother, Raymond, Little Falls; nieces, nephews and her Franciscan Community. Donations to Franciscan Sisters Ministries preferred.
