Sister Mary Cabrini Loerzel

Sister Mary Cabrini (Elizabeth) Loerzel, 87, died on Sunday, January 15, 2012, at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls, Minn. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Convent on Friday, January 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. Friends may call at St. Francis Convent on Thursday, January 19, 2012, from 4 - 8:30 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral on January 20, 2012. A wake service will be held at the Convent at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Sister Mary Cabrini was born on August 20, 1924, near Perham, Minn. She was the third of ten children born to the late Frank and Sophie (Rusch) Loerzel. She was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls, Minn., on August 12, 1947. She made first profession of vows on August 12, 1949, and final vows on August 12, 1952. She was a Franciscan Sister for 64 years. Sister Mary Cabrini became a registered nurse at St. Gabriel's School of Nursing, Little Falls, before she entered religious life and then ministered at Moorhead, Sauk Centre, Breckenridge, Little Falls, Alexandria, Perham and Onamia. Because of health problems she retired to St. Francis Convent and served as a hostess, secretary, volunteer and rosary maker. Sister Mary Cabrini continued being the praying Sister for Unity Family Health Care until the time of her death. Sister Mary Cabrini was preceded in death by siblings: Raymond, Marie Rogers, Magdalene Schik, Bernard and Clarence. Survivors include siblings: Francis, Carver, Minn.; Dr. Arthur (Rosa), Tamuning, Guam; Leonard, Ulen, Minn.; John (Grace), Hermosa, S. Dak., and sister-in-law, Marge, Roseville, Minn.; nephews and nieces and her Franciscan Community. Donations to Franciscan Sisters Ministries preferred.
