Simon "Sam" Wielinski, age 77, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011, at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Fr. Mark Innocenti and Fr. Alan Wielinski (nephew/godson) concelebrating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls with a Rosary at 5:00 P.M., Parish Prayers at 6:00 P.M. and Knights of Columbus Office of the Dead at 7:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, September 21st from 9:00 - 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home. Sam was born on November 2, 1933 in Pike Creek Township, Morrison County, Minnesota the son of Simon & Catherine (Smude) Wielinski. He grew up on the family farm in Pike Creek Township and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School and Little Falls High School. Following his schooling, he served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Lucille Leidenfrost on August 26, 1961 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN. The couple made their home on a farm in Pike Creek Township where they lived and raised their children until moving to Little Falls in December, 2010. Until his retirement, Sam was a dairy farmer. Sam was a lifetime faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls and the Little Falls Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sports enthusiast including following his grandchildren's sports events. Sam enjoyed visiting with friends and family especially his children and grandchildren. His family will always remember him as a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather who will be missed greatly. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Lucille of Little Falls; children, Paula (Steven) Hurni of Little Falls, MN, Steve Wielinski of Little Falls, MN, Mary Kay (James) Timm of White Bear Lake, MN, and Mark Wielinski of Little Falls, MN; grandchildren, Matthew Hurni, Melissa Hurni, Patrick Timm and Anthony Timm; siblings, Mary Louise Roberts, Leona Munsch, Albert (Shirley) Wielinski, Irene McCulloch, Lorraine LeMieur, James (Carol) Wielinski, Ann Schomer, John Wielinski, Richard (Kay) Wielinski, Janet (Dan) Childs, Cathy Bolme, Michael (Clarice) Wielinski, Sharon Loscheider; sisters-in-law, Eileen (Richard) Haeg and Janet (Jeffrey) Johnson and many nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn and an infant sister. Casket bearers will be Matthew Hurni, Howard Schomer, Lance McCulloch, Tim Wielinski, Gregg Burgardt and Ray Ginter.
