Rose Schreiber, age 88, of Little Falls, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, December 20, 2013, at her home at Highland Senior Living in Little Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Fr. Jason Asselin and Fr. Joseph Herzing con-celebrating.Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 7:00 P.M.on Monday, December 23nd and 9:00 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 24th all at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls.
There will be a Christian Mothers Rosary at 4:30 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home followed by a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M.
Rose Wielinski was born on January 14, 1925, in Little Falls, Minnesota the daughter of John & Hattie (Yasgar) Wielinski.She grew up on a farm in Pike Creek Township and attended the Brickyard School, Our Lady of Lourdes School and Little Falls High School.Following her schooling, Rose worked as a secretary at the ASCS office in Little Falls and Munsingwear in Minneapolis. On October 15, 1946, Rose was united in marriage to Richard Schreiber at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls.The couple made their home in Little Falls.Rose was a loving, dedicated mother staying home to raise her family.She then went to work at St. Francis Convent for a time in Little Falls.Rose enjoyed canning, baking (especially poppy seed coffee cake), quilting, embroidery, card playing, (was a member of a 500 Card Club), dancing, blueberry picking, flower gardening, cooked fantastic feasts for the family and volunteered at the Little Falls Senior Center and St. Ottos Care Center.She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, was a prayer volunteer, worked the bazaar, and led the Rosary.Roses family will remember her as a nurturing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She had a passion for prayer.Others were the center of her life, not herself.She especially enjoyed traveling with her husband in their retirement.She was honored to meet President George W. Bush at one of Richards Naval reunions.Roses family is grateful for the generous, loving care she received while residing at Highland Senior Living in Little Falls.She was affectionately known as Rosie by the staff.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ken Schreiber (Grace Thull) of St. Joseph, MN, Dennis Schreiber (Lou Ann) of Rochester, MN, Julie Czech (Don) of Little Falls, MN, Margaret Kalis (Dan) of Buffalo, MN, Patricia May (Jerry) of Waconia, MN; son-in-law, Don Asselin of St. Cloud, MN; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard (April 24, 1999), daughter, Mary Catherine Asselin (January 19, 1998); grandson, David May (July 24, 2007); sister, Dorothy Winzenburg and brother, Jerry Wielinski.
