Roman M. Walchezski, age 73, of Hillman, MN, died Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Mille Lacs Health Care in Onamia. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Bull Dog Lake with Father Paul Fruth officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with military honors provided by the Onamia Vets Club. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN. The Onamia-Hillman Knights of Columbus with have a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Roman Michael Walchezski was born on July 24, 1933 in Benton County, Minnesota to the late Peter & Julie (Landowski) Walcheski. He grew up on a farm in the Gilman area and attended Catholic school in Gilman. Roman's faith and his church were always very important to him. He spent many hours working at the church. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on May 28, 1954 and was honorably discharged on November 27, 1957. Roman attended Dunwoody for two years where he was instructed in carpentry. He worked for many years in commercial construction around Minnesota and other states, retiring in 1992. Roman was a bachelor until his marriage to Alice at Holy Family Catholic Church in June, 1993. Roman and Alice enjoyed spending time together in their retirement. He treated her children and grandchildren as his own. Roman was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Onamia-Hillman Knights of Columbus and the Onamia VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, bee keeping, gardening, music, cabinetry, and a good party. Survivors include his wife, Alice of Hillman; step-children, David (Michelle) Bull of Ellsworth, WI, Teresa (Steve) Manhart of Burnsville, MN, Donna Cahoon of St. Paul, MN, Charles (Pemella) Bull of South St. Paul, MN, Kenneth Bull of South St. Paul; siblings, Frances, Stanley, Sr. Mary, Gertrude, Helen Allich, Rose Maciaszak, Dominic, Joe (Daisy), Benjamin (Helen), Jim (Jane) and Esador; five step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Agatha Schyma. Casket bearers: James Wacher, Jeffrey Thomas, Keith Walcheski, John Fisher, Jason Fisher, Ronald Fisher.
