Robert W. Lindgren, age 82 of Platte Lake/Hillman, MN, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the St. Cloud V.A. Health Care System in St. Cloud, MN. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Lakeview Community Church in Hillman with Rev. David Gouldin officiating. Interment will be at Glen Haven Cemetery in Crystal, MN. Visitation will be held Friday from 9:00-10:00 A.M. at the Lakeview Community Church in Hillman. Robert W. Lindgren was born March 18, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN, to the late Carl T. and Linda L. (Kimble) Lindgren. He grew up and attended Roosevelt High School. Robert entered the United States Army on August 14, 1951 and received an honorable discharge on July 30, 1954. During his military stay, he received the Occupation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was united in marriage to Gladys E. Jentsch. The couple later divorced. Upon returning from the service, Robert worked in law enforcement as a police officer. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis receiving a degree in education. His passion was teaching. Robert continued in law enforcement and became a welfare fraud investigator for the Anoka County Attorneys Office. He also educated his colleagues in welfare fraud, teaching throughout the United States. In 1973, Robert left law enforcement and began his own construction company which he retired from many years later. He was a very outgoing person and left a good impression on all those he came in contact with. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren along with hunting and fishing. He was a past member of the Shriners and he attended Lakeview Community Church in Hillman. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Bruce (Cynthia) Lindgren of Hillman, MN, Brian (Julie) Lindgren of Sioux Falls, SD, Brad (Joyce) Lindgren of Dassel, MN and Brent (Lisa) Lindgren of Onamia, MN; ex-wife and friend, Gladys E. Lindgren of Hillman, MN; brothers, Carl (Beverly) Lindgren of Maple Lake, MN, Richard Lindgren of Minnetonka, MN, Jack (Corrine) Lindgren of Plymouth, MN; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
