Rita Otremba

Mrs. Rita (Jerome) Otremba, 71, a resident of Little Falls, died Friday, January 5, 2007, at St Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 11:30 AM at St Mary's Catholic Church , with Fr Nick Landsberger officiating and burial at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 PM until 8 PM Monday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Home (East Chapel) in Little Falls. Christian Mothers and the American Legion and VFW Auxiliary will say a rosary at 4:30 PM followed by parish prayers at 7 PM. There will also be visitation on Tuesday from 9 AM until service hour at the Emblom-Brenny East Chapel. Rita was born November 12, 1935 in Little Falls to the late William and Marie (Lentz) LeMieur. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School. Her nickname was "Snowball". She was Cinderella Queen for Brainerd and Little Falls. She worked for American National Bank from 1952-1956. She married Jerome (Flattop) Otremba September 17, 1956 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls. It was very important to her to be with and raise her family before going to work for Red Owl and the Ben Franklin Store for 21 years before retiring in 1991. She was recognized as being an Employee of the Month by the Little Falls Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, Catholic Aid, VFW and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Jerome "Flattop" of Little Falls; daughters, Debbie (Randy) Schlumpberger, Sharon (Dr. George) Fortier and Brenda (Terry) Johnson, all of Little Falls, Sandy (Kent) Sanders of Shakopee, MN and Patty (John) Tholen of Rice; brothers, Ken (Bev) LeMieur, Earl LeMieur and Tom (Paulette) LeMieur, all of Little Falls; sisters, Leona Knutson, Millie Thielen, Collette (Jerry) Benson, Janet Luberts, all of Little Falls and Shirley (Steve) Pease of Las Vegas, NV and 13 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Irene; brothers, Rich, Ed and Bob LeMieur of Little Falls, William of Robbinsdale, MN and Donald of New Brighton MN; her mother and father-in-law, Henry & Helen Otremba. Honorary Bearers will be Collette Benson, MaryLee and Bev LeMieur, Ellen LeBlanc and Judy Hiemenz. Casketbearers; Randy Schlumpberger, Dr. George Fortier IV, Kent Sanders, Terry Johnson, John Tholen and Bradley Otremba.
