Richard "Rich" Stangl

Richard Rich Stangl, age 85, of Buckman, MN, passed away, Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Buckman, MN on Monday, September 15, with Fr. Alfred Stangl and Father Kenneth Popp con-celebrating. The burial will be at St. Michaels Parish Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 14 and from 8:30-10:00 A.M. on Monday at the church. A Christian Mothers and St. Michaels Society rosary will be said at 4:30 P.M. followed by a parish prayer at 6:00 P.M. at the Knights of Columbus Office of the Dead at 7:00 P.M..

Richard Henry Stangl was born February 11, 1929 in Pierz Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Frank and Francis (Kruschek) Stangl. The family lived in Pierz Township, Morrison County, Minnesota where Rich attended school through the eighth grade. He was united in marriage to Arlene Elizabeth Marshik on June 16, 1954 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Buckman, Minnesota. Rich worked as a farmer, a school bus driver for Pierz Schools for over 35 years and as a maintenance worker at the Pierz Villa. In his spare time, Rich enjoyed helping his family on the farm, playing cards, telling jokes and watching game shows on TV. He was a faithful member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, where he served as an usher, communion minster and a choir member. Rich was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Isadore Council #3982 and the Pierz area Lions Club.

Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlene Stangl; children, Allan (Deb) Stangl of Buckman, MN, Laurie (Dennis) Nistl of Wyoming, MN, Brian (Dana) Stangl of Buckman, MN, Janet (Jeff) Olson of Rochester, MN, Dale (Sheilah) Stangl of Buckman, MN; siblings, Herman Stangl of Pierz, MN, Clarence Stangl of Maple Plaine, MN, Fr. Alfred Stangl of St. Cloud, MN, Marie Pohlkamp of Buckman, MN and 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Francis Stangl; siblings, Margaret Athman, Elaine Kummet, Evelyn Dehler and Alvin Stangl.
