Richard "Dick" A. Lyter, age 69 of Little Falls, Minnesota, passed away October 4, 2011 at Banner Hospice in Mesa, Arizona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Mark Innocenti officiating. Interment will be in St. Adalbert's Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. Richard "Dick" Alfred Lyter was born May 28, 1942 in Great Falls, Montana to Veronica (Didier) Lyter and the late Alfred Lyter. He grew up in Sanborn, North Dakota where he attended grade school. Dick graduated from St. Catherine's High School in Valley City, North Dakota. He was united in marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Janet Schoessling on February 6, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois. Following their marriage, Dick and Janet continued to live in Chicago. He attended DePaul University graduating in 1969. During this time, Dick worked for Thomas Harvey and Company as an accountant. He then went to work for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. In 1980, he started C & L Distributing with his partner and brother-in-law, Brownie Carlson. In 1984, Dick sold out his shares in C & L Distributing and returned to work with the Teamsters until 2002, continuing to live in Little Falls. His wife, Janet, died on March 18, 2003. From 2003 to 2010, Dick worked for Brunswick. He was united in marriage to Janice Clark on February 2, 2006 in Arizona. Following their marriage, they lived in Mesa, Arizona where Dick resided until his death. He enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and especially spending time with his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Richard J. (Susan) Lyter of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, Peggy (Tom) Monahan of Little Falls, Minnesota, Michael (Tracy) Lyter of Little Falls, Minnesota; mother, Veronica "Tom" Lyter of Mesa, Arizona; siblings, Dan (Donna) Lyter of Belle Plaine, Minnesota, James (Dianna) Lyter of Evergreen, Colorado, Lloyd (Doris) Lyter of California, Ed (Joy) Lyter of Phoenix, Arizona, Tim (Sharlene) Lyter of Sanborn, North Dakota and Marie (Kenneth) Lorenz of Valley City, North Dakota; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and wife, Janice Clark-Lyter of Mesa, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet, on March 18, 2003; son, Thomas Lyter, on April 8, 2009 and his father, Alfred Lyter.
