Reinhart John Gerwing

Reinhart Gerwing, age 95, of Pierz, MN, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Harmony House of Pierz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz, MN, with Fr. David Maciej officiating.Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31st and from 9:30 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 1st all at the church.

There will be a parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Reinhart John Gerwing was born on March 2, 1918, in Buh Township, Morrison County, Minnesota the son of Christ & Julianna (Loidolt) Gerwing.He attended country school in District #129 near Pierz.He was united in marriage to Elaine Wagner on September 4, 1945 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup.He farmed near Pierz until his retirement in 1978.In their retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling around the United States and Canada.Reinhart enjoyed fishing, bowling (especially beating the younger bowlers) and gardening.He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Judy (Mike) Huebner of Little Falls, MN; James (Doreen) Gerwing of Pierz, MN, Larry (Louise) Gerwing of Big Lake, MN, Patty (Tom) May of Coon Rapids, MN; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Art Wolch of Little Falls, MN and sister-in-law, Edes Gerwing of Little Falls,MN.

Reinhart was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine (2011); daughter, Marilyn (2000); brothers, Herman, Herbert, Roland, Leonard, Leander and Henry Gerwing and sisters, Johanna Boser, Alma Przybilla, Armella Wolch, Mary Ann Storkamp and Bernadine Gerwing.
