Raymond "Ray" Stangl

Raymond Ray Stangl, age 88, of Pierz, MN, died Friday, August 8, 2014, as the result of an automobile accident.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 18, 2014, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz, MN.Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 17th and 9:00 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 18th all at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN.

There will be a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home followed by parish prayers at 6:00 p.m. and Knights of Columbus office of the Dead at 7:30 p.m.

Raymond Ray Stangl was born on August 27, 1925 in Hillman Township, Morrison County, Minnesota the son of Edward & Helen (Froehner) Stangl.Ray attended school through the eighth grade and was proud to have completed his GED at age 56.He was united in marriage to Alice Marie Gohl on August 12, 1958, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Buckman, MN.Ray worked as a milk truck driver, farmed for many years in the Hillman area, was a US Postal worker and also worked as a realtor.He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards, fishing, spending time at the cabin, rummage sales, listening to Party Line on KLTF, reading books, the adult leisure club, and family history research.He even wrote a book about his life growing up near Center Valley, MN.Ray was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz, the Knights of Columbus (a former Grand Knight) and served on the Hillman Township board as treasurer.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alice of Pierz, MN; children, Linda (Dennis) Welle of Pierz, MN, Tom (Mary Jo) Stangl of Pierz, MN, Roger (Marie) Stangl of Prior Lake, MN, and Dennis (Jennifer Stam-Stangl) of Emerado, ND; 10 grandchildren, Ted Welle, Kyle Welle, Mike (Jody) Stangl, Lisa (Jason) Gorecki, Christa Stangl, Katelyn Stangl, Joseph Stangl, Zachary Stangl, Madeline Stangl and Noah Stangl; six great-grandchildren, Braden Tretter, Darrin Stangl, Liliana Stangl, Breanne Gorecki, Brent Gorecki and Blake Gorecki; sister, Regina Bisch of LeSeuer, MN, and nieces and nephews, Mary Helen (Alan) Deutsch of Roseville, MN, Sharon Rosburg, of Cross Lake, MN, Steve (Paula) Bisch of Lake Elmo, MN, Kevin (Cathy) Bisch of Aitkin, MN, and RoseAnn Bisch of Spring Lake Park, MN.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Helen (Froehner) Stangl and a brother, Victor Stangl.

Casketbearers will be Ted Welle, Kyle Welle, Mike Stangl, Lisa Gorecki, Christa Stangl, Katelyn Stangl, Joseph Stangl, Zachary Stangl, Madeline Stangl and Noah Stangl.
