Raymond O. Borash

Raymond O. Borash, age 88, of North Prairie, MN, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie, MN, with Rev. Greg Mastey & Rev. Laurn Virnig concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 9:00 P.M. Friday, Oct. 3, 2008 and 9:00 - 10:15 A.M. on Saturday, Oct. 4th all at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie, MN. There will be a St. Joseph's Society Rosary at 5:00 P.M., Knights of Columbus office of the dead at 7:30 P.M. and a parish prayer service at 8:15 P.M. at the church on Friday. Raymond Otto Borash was born on October 15, 1919 in Two Rivers Township, Morrison County, MN the son of Andrew & Augusta (Mrosla) Borash. He was united in marriage to Lucille Ann Puchalla on June 8, 1943 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN. Ray's entire life revolved around farming. He always said, "One of the places I have enjoyed most is the farm." Ray farmed until 1983 when he and Lucille moved to North Prairie. Even though he moved off the farm, he still continued to help his boys on the farm. Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, growing flowers, cement work, woodworking, taxidermy, playing guitar and singing. He especially enjoyed playing cards with friends and neighbors. He wanted to be remembered for being happy, having fun with friends and getting along with everyone. A message to his family is "Celebrate while you can." Ray was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie, Knights of Columbus Council #1204, St. Joseph's Society, Crosier Apostolate, Senior Citizens of Rice and Bowlus and the Royalton Sportmans Club. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Jim (Bernie) Borash of Rice, Elizabeth (John) Mastey of Foley, Kathleen (Gary) Street of Eyota, Elaine (Greg) Anderson of St. Joseph, Mary (Delmar) Lashinski of North Pole, AK, Jerome (Debbie) Borash of Rice, Jane (Darrell) Heitzman of Albany, Judy (Ron) Lashinski of South Haven and Ron (Ann) Borash of Bowlus; brother, Andrew (Ruth) Borash of Chanhassen; sister, Irene Langner of Albany; 45 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille (Puchalla) Borash (July 8, 2001); parents, Andrew & Augusta (Mrosla) Borash; grandchildren, Elizabeth Lashinski and Michael Borash and a sister, Evelyn Janski.
