Raymond N. Donnay

Father Raymond N. Donnay, age 85 of Little Falls, MN passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 26th at 11:00 A.M. at the Cathedral of St. Mary in St. Cloud, MN with The Most Reverend John F. Kinney officiating. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Watkins, MN. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 25th, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls and Monday from 8:30-11:00 A.M. at the Cathedral of St. Mary in St. Cloud. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday evening at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls. Father Raymond Donnay was born February 2, 1925 in Kimball, MN to the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Loch) Donnay. He attended District #55 Elementary School in Kimball, MN and Crosier High School and College in Onamia, MN. He received his seminary training at Saint Paul Seminary in Saint Paul, MN. Father Donnay was ordained on June 3, 1950 by The Most Reverend Peter W. Bartholomew at Saint Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud. He celebrated his first Mass on June 11, 1950 at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Watkins, MN. Father Donnay served the following pastoral assignments in the Diocese of Saint Cloud: associate pastor, St. Paul's Church in Sauk Centre, MN from June 1950-July 1954; pastor, St. Isidore's Church, in Moran and St. James Church in Philbrook, MN from July 1954 to July 1957; Sacred Heart Church in Dent, MN from July 1957 to August 1960; St. Joseph's Church in Clarissa, MN from August 1960 to November 1961; St. Edward's Church in Henning, MN from November 1961 to June 1963; St. Michael's Church in Buckman, MN from June 1963 to June 1973; St. Alexius Church in West Union, MN and St. Bartholomew Church in Villard, MN from June 1973 to July 1985; St. Stanislaus Church in Sobieski, MN from July 1985 to July 1999. Father Donnay retired July 1, 1999. Father Donnay served as Dean of the Little Falls Deanery from 1989 until 1993. He was appointed Diocesan Consultor in December of 1987 for five years. Father Donnay is survived by brothers, Florian (Roseann) Donnay of Kimball, MN, Charles (Anna) Donnay of St. Cloud, MN and Robert (Ethel) Donnay of Watkins, MN; sisters, Sr. Emily Donnay, OSF of Little Falls, MN, Rita Molitor of Sartell, MN and Clara (Kenneth, Sr.) Maurer of St. Cloud, MN and sister-in-law, Iris Donnay of Watkins, MN and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Eugene, Gilbert & Alfred Donnay and uncle, Rev. Nicholas Donnay.
