Philip Frances Smieja,Jr.

Philip F. Smieja, Jr. age 67 of Royalton, MN, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton with Father Laurn Virnig officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Monday from 8:00 - 10:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton. Parish prayers will be said Sunday evening at 6:30 P.M. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Philip Frances Smieja, Jr. was born March 7, 1944 in Little Falls, Morrison County, MN to the late Philip, Sr. and Rose Marie (Fussy) Smieja. He grew up in Royalton, MN where he attended and graduated from Royalton High School in 1962. He was united in marriage to Diana Countryman on January 2, 1963, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls. Philip and Diana made their home near Royalton in Belleview Township, Morrison County, MN where he resided until his death. Philip was self-employed at Doroff Farms in Little Falls. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and pets. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Diana of Royalton, MN; sons & daughters, Ron (Cindy) Smieja of Royalton, MN, Mark (Annette) Smieja of Pierz, MN, Randy (Amy) Smieja of Royalton, MN, Sandy (Ron) Lanners of Pierz, MN, Linda (Duane) Nordmann of Royalton, MN, Tammy (Alan) Graczyk of Hillman, MN, Jessy (Lennie) Steffen of Pierz, MN and Amanda (Brandon) Waytashek of Little Falls, MN; sisters, Dorothy Kuklok of Twin Cities, MN, Leona Burgraff-Borg of Little Falls, MN, Josephine Czech of Brainerd, MN, Louise Kroll of Coon Rapids, MN, Clara Zimmerman of Royalton, MN and Janet Popp of Rice, MN; 27 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip, Sr. & Rose Smieja and a sister, MaryAnn Borg. Casket bearers are Chad Smieja, Dylan Smieja, Derek Lanners, Cory Nordmann, Eric Graczyk, Ethan Smieja, Brian Steffen & Bryce Waytashek.
