Many people referred to Paul by his nickname "Paulsy". In July of 2009, Paul was diagnosed with Leukemia. Paul courageously went through treatments and was in remission at the time of his death. Paul was known to pull up a stool next to a total stranger and say "How you doing ol' boy?" and leave somewhere making a new friend. He had an infectious smile and could make crowds of people laugh with his sense of humor. Paul is survived by the biggest joy of his world, his 4 yr. old son, Jack; his loving parents, Joan (Dale) Kallenberg of Blaine, MN and Joe Varner of Pierz, MN; his siblings, Kelley (Gabriel) Hill of Prior Lake, MN; JoLaine Varner of Hillman, MN; Cody Varner of Pierz, MN and Brianna Varner of Hillman, MN; his maternal grandmother, Lucille Brummer of Hillman, MN; his paternal grandparents, Robert and Carol Varner of Delta, CO and godparents, Matt and Linda Brummer of Hillman, MN. Paul is also survived by aunts, uncles and many friends who Paul cherished. Paul was welcomed into heaven by his maternal grandfather, Richard Brummer. The family of Paul Varner would like to thank our friends and family for the love and support shown to our family during this difficult time. Your thoughtfulness will always be remembered. Also, to Holy Family Church Bull Dog Lake, Fr. Justin, musicians and the ladies that prepared the meal thank you. And to anyone we may have forgotten. We also like to thank Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service for the wonderful job. Joan, Joe and Kelley
