Norman Wunderlich, age 84, of Royalton, MN, passed away from cancer Sunday, April 13, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN, with Fr. Laurn Virnig officiating. Interment with Military Honors by the Royalton American Legion Post #137 will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 a" 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 16th and 9:00 a" 10:00 A.M. Thursday April 17th at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Royalton. There will be a Christian Mother's Rosary at 4:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home followed by American Legion service at 6:00 P.M. and Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M. Norman Sylvester Wunderlich was born on July 8, 1923 in Holding Township, Stearns County, Minnesota the son of Frank & Elsie (Kiley) Wunderlich. He attended school in Holdingford, graduating with the Class of 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on May 12, 1944 and was honorably discharged on February 23, 1946. Norman was united in marriage to Rita Heurung in 1950 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton. He farmed for nearly 40 years in the Opole area and also worked for 22 years as a machinist for DeZurik Corp. in Sartell. In 1991, he retired and moved to Royalton. Norman enjoyed horseshoes, gardening, traveling, playing cards and playing kickball with his grandchildren. He was member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, the National Horseshoe Pitching Association, was the Chaplain and a life member of the Royalton American Legion Post #137, a life member of the Holdingford V.F.W. Post #5160 and a member of the Senior Citizens of Royalton. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rita Wunderlich of Royalton, MN; children, Marlene (Tom) Kerestes of Elk Mound, WI, Kathy (Bob) Maine of Las Cruces, NM and Ray (Jane) Wunderlich of Rice, MN; siblings, Margaret Huls of Holdingford, MN, Christopher (Josephine) Wunderlich of St. George, UT, Lucille Kampa of St. Paul, MN and Bernard (Margie) Wunderlich of Rice, MN; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Wunderlich (April 8, 2007); sister, Alvina Kurtz and brothers, Leonard and Edmund Wunderlich. Casketbearers will be Ray Wunderlich, Bob Maine, Kr., Dan Maine, Tom Kerestes, Jason Wunderlich and Victor Wunderlich.
