Mildred E Garoutte

Mildred E. (MacKenzie) Garoutte, age 100 of Brainerd, MN passed away Friday, December 18, 2009. Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Brainerd Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. Mildred E. Garoutte was born December 28, 1908 in South Berwick, ME to the late George and Maude MacKenzie. She grew up in Maine where she attended school. After high school, Mildred attended and graduated from teachers training. In 1928, she was united in marriage to Ralph L.D. Garoutte in Kittery, ME. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Maine, Hawaii and California. In 1975, Ralph & Mildred moved to Brainerd, MN where they retired. While living in California, Mildred worked in clerical for Schwabacher-Frey. Ralph died in 2001. Following his death, Mildred continued to live in Brainerd until October of 2009, when she became a resident of the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls. Mildred enjoyed visiting with family and friends and especially about her religious beliefs for 77 years. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses for the last 34 years in Brainerd, MN. She is survived by her daughters and son, Elaine (Philip) Marshall of Rollingford, NH, Elizabeth Church of Rescue, CA, Ira Garoutte (carol) of Stockton, CA and Alice (Michael) Jones of Brainerd, MN; 23 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; daughters, Donna Andersen and Patsy Hoffman; parents, George & Maude MacKenzie; three brothers and one sister.
