Merolyn E. Peterson, age 61 of Little Falls, MN and formerly of Burnsville, MN passed away Friday, February 16, 2007 at her home in Little Falls, MN. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 27th, at 11:00 A.M. at the Union Congregational Church in Elk River, MN with Rev. Garth Schumacher officiating. Friends and relatives may call from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Tuesday, Feb. 27th, at the Union Congregational Church in Elk River, MN. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, February 27, 2007 @ 2:15 P.M. Merolyn E. Peterson was born July 1, 1945 in Red Wing, Goodhue County, MN to the late Marlow and Mildred (Harris) Holien. As a young girl, Merolyn grew up in Coon Rapids, MN. During her early teens, Merolyn and her family moved to Minneapolis, MN. She attended Rosevelt High School graduating with the Class of 1963. Following her schooling, she lived and worked in Minneapolis. Merolyn was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Peterson in 1984 in Minneapolis, MN. Together the couple made their home in Minneapolis, later moving to Burnsville, MN. Following, Bob's retirement, the couple moved to Little Falls, MN where they resided at the time of Merolyn's death. She enjoyed fishing, scary movies, being outside and sitting around a fire, visiting with friends and family but especially, spending time with her children and grandchildren. Merolyn will be greatly missed by her husband, Bob, and her children. Merolyn is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" of Little Falls, MN; son Michael Holien & wife, Lisa, of Elk River, MN; daughters, Jackie Fernandez & husband Jeff, of North Branch, MN; Kimberley Rice of Little Falls, MN; grandchildren, Steve & Matthew Rice, Anna Davenport, Ashley, Lauren & Mickenna Holien; two great-grandchildren; brother, James Holien & wife, Colleen, of Brainerd, MN; sisters Sandra Hanson & husband, Wayne, of Fridley, MN, Deborah Kellington & husband, Mike, of Battle Lake, MN and half-brother Bruce Holien & wife, Mary, of Vermillion, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents.
