Melva Holm, age 80, of Bellevue Township, north of Royalton, MN, passed away Friday, June 24, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Royalton, MN. There will be a sharing of memories service at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home immediately followed by a graveside service at Riverside Cemetery in Royalton. Melva was born on July 4, 1930 in McGrath, MN to Lawrence & Marie Nelson. She grew up in the Sandstone where she attended country school through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Carl Holm on October 16, 1948 at the Sandstone Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Sandstone. The couple later moved to Pillager and eventually settled on a farm north of Roylaton in 1960. Melva raised her family and following the death of her husband, went to work as a cook at the Royalton Elementary School until her retirement in 2001. Melva enjoyed cooking, baking, fishing, canning and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of the Royalton American Legion Auxiliary. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gary Holm, Jerry Holm, Ronald Holm, Darrell (Gail) Holm, Joy Janski, Sandy (Larry) Pudlick and Julie (Gary) Kloss; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bob (Paula) Nelson, Jeanette (Joe) Seits, Dolores Chambers, Betty Robertson. Melva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Holm; seven siblings granddaughter, Hope Holm an great-grandson, Bodin Pudlick.
