Maybelle Riedemann, 99 year old resident Pierz, MN formerly of Little Falls, MN passed away on Thursday, August 28 at the Harmony House in Pierz, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 2 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Fredericks Catholic Church in Verndale, MN, with Father Kenneth Riedemann officiating. The burial will be held in parish cemetery.A visitation will be held Monday, September 1 at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN from 4:00-8:00 with a parish prayer service at 7:00 P.M. and from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Tuesday at the church.
Maybelle Elizabeth (Betz) Riedemann was born September 14, 1914 in Sutherland, IA to the late Nicholas and Valatta Betz.She attended country school until the eighth grade and graduated from Primghar High School in 1931.She was united in marriage to Walter Riedemann on February 21, 1936 in Sutherland, IA. They farmed in Iowa until 1945. Then they moved to Verndale, MN where they bought a farm and farmed there until 1967.The couple moved to Wadena, MN and lived there until Walter had health problems. They moved into the Humphrey Manor in Wadena. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in June of 1986.Walter died on November 18, 1990. Maybelle moved to the Pine Grove Manor in Little Falls, MN a few years later to be near her family.In 2009, she moved to the Harmony House in Pierz, MN where she resided until her death.Maybelle loved outdoors, camping, fishing, wild berry picking and gardening. She has belonged to Christian Mothers since 1953. Maybelle and her husband Walter were members of the Crosier Apostolate since the early in 1960s. Her husband, children and grandchildren were the most important highlight of her life. Her deep faith in God was reflected by the manner in which she lived.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Janet Grady of Milwaukee, WI, Father Ken Riedemann of Sauk Centre, MN and Judy Girtz of Little Falls, MN; siblings, Eilene (Don) Benz of Sioux Falls, SD, Richard (Marjie) Betz of Spencer, IA;grandchildren, Christine Webb, Karrie Hodel, Kelsey Girtz, Charles Rice and Carol Flores; 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Valatta Betz; husband, Walter; daughter, Joan Hodel; siblings, Robert Betz, Dora Hilbert, Arlene Krueger and Evelyn Martens; brothers and sister-in-law, Velma Betz, Henry Hilbert, Roy Krueger and Walter Martens.
