Mathilda "Tiny" Eckman

Mathilda Tiny Eckman, (Mathilda Gertrude Sobiech), age 97, passed away Wednesday evening, April 8, 2015, (her husband Cliffords birthday) at Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 14 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls MN, with Fr. Joseph Herzing officiating.The burial will be in the Minnesota Sate Veterans north of Little Falls, MN.A visitation will be held on Monday, April 13 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN and on Tuesday, April 14 from 9:00to 10:00 AM at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN. The Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 4:30 PM on Monday evening at the funeral home.

Tiny was born March 14, 1918 in North Prairie, MN, and was the last surviving family member of Nicholas and Margaret (Zielonka) Sobiech who had 9 children. She married Clifford J. Eckman on October 9, 1940.They lived at 302 11th St. S.W. all of their lives where they raised 9 children. Tiny was an amazing woman whose life and love for God and her family was of utmost importance.Her faith was her rock and she has always said that she has the best kids ever!.She loved being outdoors in her gardens, hanging out freshly washed clothes and mowing her lawn even in her 90s! She had the privilege of meeting many wonderful people and touching so many lives through her waitressing which she loved and continued into her 80s! Tiny was a wonderful chef and baker rarely following a recipe. Her homemade bread won 1st prize at county fairs and she generously gave her bread, baked goods and other meals to her friends and neighbors; she started baking bread at the age of 10. Tiny was always a hard worker and her strong work ethic has been passed on to her children and grandchildren; along with her favorite dice game Zonk.

Tiny is survived by her 9 children: Clif (Nancy) and children Steph and Matt (Amanda); Peg Kalash; Tom (Rhonda) and children Emily (Steve Moore) and Max; Frann (John Champion) Champion and children Susan, Andrew, April and Alex; Dave (Kate) and children Brenda (James Jensen) and their child Taylor, Sara (Leon Pusc) and children Rachel and Ella; Mary Sowders and children Jake (Dana),Beth (Joey Mayor) and children Austin, Logan, and Jordyn; Debra (Gerald Lieberg) and children Justina (Nathan Ihde), Tara (Vince Jones) and child, Amelia; Elissa (Bryan Sieh) , Christopher and Regina (Tom Thiel); Janet Eckman (David Foley) and children Ben Thomas (Tiffany), Claire (Nick Finstrom) and child Winter, Daniel Eckman Thomas, Joey Eckman (Daysha) and child Jovian; Stephen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cliff; brothers, Tom Sobiech, Leo Sobiech, Joe Sobiech, Claudie Sobiech, Nick Sobiech, Jackie Sobiech; sisters, Frances Kampa, Cecelia Betker and Jennie Maciej and a grandson, Nicky Eckman.
