Martin "Marty" Stang Martin "Marty" Stang, 80 year old resident of Pierz, MN died Tuesday, January 4 in Hugo, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Rev. Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN and from 8:30-10:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Christian Mothers will pray at 4:30 P.M. followed by Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M. on Monday evening at the funeral home. Marty was born December 6, 1930 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to the late Simon and Catherine (Pursley) Stang. Marty attended Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, MN. Marty was inducted into the United States Army on April 18, 1952 and was discharged on March 23, 1954. Marty worked for Franklin Manufacturing in St. Cloud, MN. Marty was united in marriage to Jeanne R. Thelen on September 18, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport, MN. The couple made their home in St. Cloud, MN, where Marty worked for the U.S. Postal Service. In 1971, the couple moved to Pierz, MN where Marty continued to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural postal carrier. Marty was a faithful and active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN. Marty served on the church council, ushered for Mass and was an adult server. Marty was also a member of the St. Augusta American Legion. Marty enjoyed fishing, gardening (especially his perennial gardens), tree planting and playing cards. Marty was excellent on the grill, all his recipes turned out exceptional and to perfection. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Jeanne Stang of Pierz, MN; children, Wayne (Dianna) Stang, Rick (Janice) Stang, Wendy (Dominic) Li, Cheri (Greg) Kruschek, Shelly (Jim) Schroeder; grandchildren, Clifford and Amelia Stang, Aaron and Jessica Li, Angela, Steven and Michael Stang, Katie Kruschek, Jacob, Joshua and Kali Rose Schroeder; great grandchild, Shawna Henschell; siblings, James (Cindy) Stang, Jackie (Delores) Stang, Renee (Myron) Schill, Delphine (Dave) Hilsgen, Joan (Cy) Valerius. He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Catherine Stang; son, Alan Stang; brothers, Bobby, Simon, Jr. and Charles Stang; sisters, Rita Ulrich and Catherine Stang.
