Martha Woitalla, age 101 of Harding, died Wednesday, March 1 at the Harmony House in Pierz, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 7 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, with Father David Maciej officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 A. M. on Tuesday at the church. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery.
Martha Rose Skudelark was born July 14, 1915 in St. Wendel to Michael and Mary (Maleska) Skudelark. She was united in marriage to Roman Woitalla on October 8, 1936 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel. The couple made their home in the Harding area for several years. Roman died on July 17, 1982 and Martha continued living in Harding. Martha was a faithful member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, embroidery, canning and an occasional trip to the casino. Her family will remember her for her love for them, hard work, poppy seed coffee cakes and the love of the farm.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Adeline Seitz of Pierz, Alvina Rutten of Princeton; daughter-in-law, Patty Woitalla of Otsego; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman; infant daughter, Mary Woitalla; sons, Archie Woitalla and Leo Woitalla; granddaughter, Debbie Smuda; siblings, Elizabeth, Hedwick, Albert, Val, Peter, Aloys, Frances, Annie, Mary, Lucas, Cecelia, Helen, and Vincent.
