Marth F. Shuman

Martha Shuman, age 93, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013, at St. Ottos Care Center in Little Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2013 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN, with Fr. John Odero officiating.Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23rd at the church.There will be a Christian Mothers Rosary at 10:00am Friday at the church.

Martha F. (Opatz) Shuman was born July 6, 1920 in Brockway Township, Stearns County near Opole, Minnesota to the late Thomas and Katherine (Oldakowski) Opatz.She grew up in Opole, MN and attended District # 12 country school. Martha worked as a cook for Holdingford High School and St. Johns University for several years.She also worked for Fingerhut in St. Cloud, MN for a few years. Martha enjoyed gardening and her flowers. She enjoyed traveling to see family and friends.She was a care giver for her daughter, Patsy Shuman.Martha was a faithful member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus, MN and was active with Christian Mothers.She was also a member of the Bowlus American Legion Auxiliary.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert Bob Shuman of Eden Prairie, MN, Edward Ed (Cathy) Shuman of Monticello, MN and Patsy Shuman of Little Falls, MN; siblings, Alois (Dolores) Opatz of Iowa, Edwin (Carol) Opatz of Opole, MN, Beanie (Joe) Gerlach of Forrest Lake, MN, Delphine (Don) Gralish of Chisago City, MN; six grandchildren, Greg, Jeffrey, Christopher, Jenny, Amanda and Melissa; 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Katherine Opatz; sister, Rose Miller; brother, Peter Opatz.
