Marlys Biniek

Marlys A. Biniek, age 71, of rural Elmdale, MN, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 surrounded by her family in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Elmdale, MN, with Fr. Michael Kellogg officiating. Interment will be in St. Edward's Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2011at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Elmdale, MN. There will be a Rosary by the Daughters of Isabella, the St. Edward's Rosary Society, Bowlus Legion Auxiliary and Knights of Columbus St. Gregory the Great Council #1264 at 4:30 p.m. followed by a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. Visitation will continue Monday at the church one hour prior to the service. Marlys was born on January 10, 1940 on a farm in Swan River Township, Morrison County, Minnesota the daughter of Clarence & Carolyn (Kaiser) Marsolek. She grew up on a farm near Sobieski. She attended school in Sobieski and graduated from St. Francis High School in Little Falls, Class of 1957. Following her schooling, Marlys was employed at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls. She was united in marriage to Don Biniek on May 18, 1968 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN. The couple has been active in farming in the Elmdale area. Marlys enjoyed gardening, flowers, watching and feeding hummingbirds, trips to the casino, traveling, baking and sharing it with friends and neighbors, cooking, sporting events from the high school level through the professional level, faithfully watched the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, spending time with her grandchildren and especially enjoyed gathering all the family for the holidays. Marlys was a faithful member of St. Edward's Catholic Church where she volunteered many hours serving in a number of different areas. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the St. Edward's Rosary Society and the Bowlus American Legion Auxiliary. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Don of Elmdale; children, Chuck (Sheila) Biniek of Elmdale, MN, Judy (Dave) Waletski of Bowlus, MN and Scott Biniek of Maple Grove, MN; siblings, JoAnn (Mike) Ringwelski of Coon Rapids, MN, Rich (Lou) Marsolek of Ham Lake, MN and Ed (Mary) Marsolek of Sobieski, MN; and grandchildren, Ashley, Amber and Kristine Biniek and Allyson and Amanda Waletski. Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence & Carolyn (Kaiser) Marsolek. Casketbearers will be Sue Suska, Eric Marsolek, Jodi Johnson, Jeff Wood, Shawn Janey, Ann Popp and Dustin Biniek.
