Mark Miller

Mark "Morrie' Miller, age 75 of Little Falls, MN passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, June 23, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Mark Innocenti officiating. A private family interment will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Visitation will be held Monday from 9:30-10:15 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls. Mark M. "Morrie" Miller was born January 24, 1933 in Little Falls, Morrison County, MN to the late Mark & Celia "Moran" Miller. He grew up and graduated from Little Falls Community High School with the Class of 1951. He attended Moorhead State College and the University of Minnesota. Mark entered the United States Army on September 6, 1957, serving during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge on September 27, 1961. On June 15, 1957, Mark was united in marriage to Doris Hovet. He was employed for over thirty years by Consolidated Freightways in operations. He transferred from Minneapolis to St. Louis to California and back to Chicago where he retired as Director of Operations. Upon his retirement, Mark and Doris moved back to Little Falls to their home on the Mississippi River. The couple enjoyed spending their winters in California with their children and grandchildren. In 1997, Mark survived a fall, but the fall resulted in his becoming a quadriplegic. He was a fighter and never gave up. During the last few years, he resided at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls. Mark died from complications from the spinal cord injury. Mark loved sports, especially football and participated in high school, college and in the Army and was always very competitive. He always gave 100% in whatever he did. Upon his retirement, he played golf and enjoyed his yard work. Mark's long struggle with his devastating condition came to an end on June 19, 2008. He is finally resting at peace with no more suffering and pain. Though he is gone from sight, he will forever live in everyone's hearts. Mark is survived by his wife, Doris, of 51 years; son Kent Miller & wife, Barbara, of Danville, CA and daughter, Jayne Biehn & husband, Doug, of Piedmont, CA; grandchildren, Garrett, Alexandria, Ava, Luke & Lola; and mother-in-law, Betty Hovet and many caring friends.
