Margaret St.Onge

Margaret St. Onge, age 90, of Ripley Township, Morrison County, MN, passed away Friday, November 09, 2012, at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie. A visitation will be held Monday, November 12 at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN from 4:00-8:00 P.M. and from 8:30-10:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. A rosary will be said at 5:00 P.M. followed by parish prayers at 7:00 P.M on Monday evening at the funeral home. Margaret Catherine St. Onge was born April 3, 1922 in Robbinsdale, MN to the late Peter Joseph Roskop and Theresa (Steffens) Roskop. At the age of six, her family moved to St. Mathias, MN, where they purchased a farm. She attended country school and graduated from the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Irving St. Onge on June 12, 1940 at St. Mathias Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Ripley Township, Morrison County, Minnesota all their married life. Margaret was a housewife and homemaker raising her eight children. Margaret enjoyed making quilts and giving them to her grandchildren as high school graduation gifts. She also made many counted cross stitching pictures throughout the years for family and friends. Margaret and Irving's children remember mother gardening, canning, selling sweet corn and growing a large strawberry patch. Margaret enjoyed reading, playing cribbage and cards with friends and family especially "500" and "Smear". Margaret was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was an active member of St. Anne's Christian Mothers and the St. Theresa Mission Circle where she served as president for many years. She was faithful to her family and faith, praying the rosary daily. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 72 years, Irving St. Onge; children, Patty (Dick) Tedford of Little Falls, MN, Kathy (Chuck) Erickson of Little Falls, MN, Jeddy St. Onge of Little Falls, MN, Don (Lynn) St. Onge of Little Falls, MN, Wally (Becky) St. Onge of Little Falls, MN, Theresa (John) Stout of Little Falls, MN, George (Kathy) St. Onge of Fort Ripley, MN and Laura (Gary) Block of Little Falls, MN; 27 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson; siblings, Audrey (Levert) Avery, Catherine Odette both of Brainerd, MN and Joseph Roskop of Fort Ripley, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Aaron Magnan in 2001, granddaughter, April St. Onge in 1981; daughter-in-law, Judy St. Onge in 2000; brother, Peter Roskop and a sister, Bernice Plein.
