Margaret Maurer, 85 year old resident of Pierz, Minnesota died Tuesday, January 4 at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 7 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Rev. Gerald Dalseth, Rev. Kenneth Brenny officiating. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. Friends may call 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN and from 8:30-10:00 A.M. on Friday at the funeral chapel. Christian Mothers Rosary and the American Legion Auxiliary will pray at 4:30 P.M. followed by Parish Prayers at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Margaret Hoheisel was born November 30, 1925 in Pierz, MN to the late Frank and Anna (Altrichter) Hoheisel. She grew up in the Pierz area where she attended school. At age 17, Margaret and her sister moved to Seattle, WA and worked at the Boeing Aircraft factory during the war years. After the war years, she returned to Pierz, MN where she met Richard Maurer. The couple was united in marriage on September 30, 1946 in Pierz, MN. The couple owned and operated the Standard Service Station in Pierz, MN for over 40 years. Margaret loved to garden and try new recipes. She enjoyed traveling and visited most of the fifty states. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, American Legion Auxiliary where she was a past-president. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Nancy (Mark) Amireault of Dayton, MN, Tom (Maryanne) Maurer of Brooklyn Center, MN, Dick (Carol) Maurer of Pierz, MN, Rosann (David) Tschida of Anoka, MN, Peggy (Rich) Toonen of Forest Lake, MN, Ann (Pat) Sauter of New Hope, MN, Lynn (Glenn) Waytashek of Parker, CO; brother, Junior "Frank" and Josie Hoheisel; sister-in-law, Joretta Hoheisel of Pierz, MN; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna (Altrichter) Hoheisel; husband, Richard Maurer on March 12, 2007; siblings, Mildred Schmidtbauer, Verna Beimart, Delores Vaughn, Donald Hoheisel and Urban Hoheisel.
