Marcella V. Petron, age 93, formerly of Royalton, MN, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN, with Fr. Laurn Virnig and Fr. Julius Beckermann con-celebrating. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Royalton with rosary by the Christian Mother, Daughters of Isabella and American Legion Auxiliary at 4:30 p.m followed by parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday at the funeral chapel from 9-10 a.m. Marcella Veronica Sobiech was born on January 28, 1915 in Two Rivers Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Stephen & Elizabeth (Trutwin) Sobiech. She grew up on a farm in Two Rivers Township, attended country school through the eighth grade, and graduated from Sauk Rapids High School, Class of 1932. Marcella received a degree in Elementary Education and a Special Education Certification from St. Cloud State University. She was united in marriage to Jerome M. Petron on June 28, 1939 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie, MN. The couple farmed in the Rice area until 1945, and then moved to Royalton, MN. During this time, Marcella continued teaching in several schools in Stearns, Benton, and Morrison Counties. She concluded her teaching career as a Special Education Teacher in Upsala, MN. Marcella enjoyed traveling, teaching, baking coffee cakes, gardening, canning, sewing, crafts, playing cards and board games. She especially enjoyed spending time with her husband and family and she loved the outdoors. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, Christian Mothers, Daughters of Isabella, 3rd Order of St. Francis, Royalton Study Club, Retired Teacher's Association, Royalton American Legion Auxiliary and Royalton Community Club. Marcella will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Barb (Nick) Heltemes of St. Joseph, Jerry (Kathy) Petron of Blaine, Al (Sue) Petron of Cannon Falls, Peggy (Curt) Sauer of Avon, Steve (Jan) Petron of New Ulm, Rosemary (Mark) Glesener of Bird Island, Edie (Bob) Flahave of Royalton and Patty (Patrick) Flahave of Elk River; 30 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Genevieve Feltl of Hopkins and Al Sobiech of North Prairie;. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerome M. Petron (March 27, 2005); siblings, Adeline Opatz, Anna Feltl, Agnes Krych, Lucy Petron, Delphine Smieja and John Sobiech.
