Mae Weiss 96 year old resident of Pierz, MN died Sunday, May 22 at the Harmony House in Pierz, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 1 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Rev. Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 31 at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Pierz, MN and from 8:30-10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Christian Mothers and the Pierz American Auxiliary will pray the rosary at 4:30 P.M. followed by Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mae J. Schlichting was born May 1, 1915 in Brockway Township, Stearns County to the late John and Pauline (Pietron) Schlichting. She attended grade school in Stearns County and graduated from Royalton High School. Mae was united in marriage to Sylvester Weiss on July 4, 1942 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN. She continued her education and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1959. Her career started in Stearns County teaching in a one room country school. After 47 years of classroom teaching in various schools, she ended her career teaching at Pierz Healy High School in the junior high department. After retiring she taught GED classes at Pierz Healy High for five years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Pierz American Legion Auxiliary Rich Prairie Unit #341 and volunteered at the Pierz Villa and Pierz area food shelf. Left to cherish her memory are several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews and relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sylvester on December 30, 1985; brothers, Justin, Michael, Joseph, Edward, George, Louis and Raymond Schlichting; sisters, Rose Trumper, Lucy Pintok, Emma Czech and Victoria Hagerty. Casket Bearers will be: Kevin Hagerty, Clarence Czech, Don Schlichting, Tom Schlichting, James Schlichting and Ed Pintok.
