Mae C. Nagel

Mae C. Nagel, 88 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, died Sunday, March 17 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 on Friday, March 22 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may gather from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 21 at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN and from 9:30-11:00 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Parish Prayers will be said at 4:30 followed by Christian Mothers Rosary at 5:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Mae Cecilia Nagel, 88 years old of Little Falls, passed away Sunday, March 17 at St. Otto's Care Center with family present. She was born to Mensor and Catherine (Gastecki) Myrman in Little Falls on May 27th, 1924. Mae attended Lincoln school and later graduated from Little Falls High School in 1942. Mae married Kenneth Wheeler in 1946. They later divorced. Mae was united in marriage with Arnold Nagel at Fort Ripley on June 14th, 1957. They made their home in Little Falls. After years as a homemaker and raising 14 children, Mae worked in finances at Morrison County Social Services until her retirement in 1984. She was a lifetime member of the St. Mary's Christian Mothers, St. Gabriel's Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary #1112. Mae was a member of TOPS Chapter 1483, beginning in 1975 and she volunteered at the hospital for many years. Mae loved cooking and baking and spending time with family and friends. One of her specialties was roll-out cookies with colorful frosting at Christmas and Easter. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards and dice games. Lately, she'd been reading books about the Amish way of life. She also loved to travel and now and then she indulged in a chocolate truffle or two. Mae is preceded in death by her husband Arnold, sisters Louise and Corrine, daughters JoAnne Nagel and Jean Hayen, stepdaughter Laurel Roe, son Gordon Wheeler, Sr. stepson Arnold Nagel, Jr. and grandson Corey Nagel. She is survived by daughters Karen Wheeler of Stacy, MN, Julie (David) Eberhart of Rochester, MN, stepdaughter Therese (Charlie) Asche of Maple Grove, MN, and sons Donald (Geri) Wheeler of North Branch, MN, James (Jan George) Nagel of Sauk Rapids, MN, Joe (Sue Green) Nagel of Little Falls, MN, stepsons Gordon (Jan) Nagel of Emily, MN, Tom (Nancy) Nagel of Bloomington, MN, Louis (Terri) Nagel of South Haven, MN, as well as daughters-in-law Kathy Wheeler of Randall, MN and Linda Nagel of Sundance, WY and sons-in-law Gerald Roe of Iowa City, IA and John Hayen of Elk River, MN. Mae is survived by 34 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
